The Garden Island — KAHULUI — Eleven teams represented the Kauai Senior Softball Association at the 39th annual Hawaii state tournament Aug. 4 on Maui.

Sixty-four teams, comprised of 1,098 players, participated in the tournament.

The Barteks were named co-champs of bracket B along with Junkyard Dogs of the Big Island. The deciding game wasn’t played because of unsafe field conditions.

Lihue A’s lost to Da Mixed Breeds, of Maui, in bracket C’s championship game.

East Kauai and Oahu’s Firehouse were named co-champs of bracket D. Ohana tied with Toros, of Maui, for third place in the same bracket. The title games weren’t played also because of unsafe conditions.

Ohana Rebels qualified for the bracket E championship game, but elected to return home to prepare for Hurricane Iselle and forfeited.

Kawaihau lost to Yankess, of Oahu, in bracket F’s championship game.

Da Kruzers beat Ka Nani O Honokaa, of the Big Island, to win third place in bracket G.

Hanamaulu won the bracket H championship by beating the Sportsmen of Oahu.

The 40th annual Hawaii State Senior Softball Tournament is set for Aug. 4, 2015, at the Big Island.
