The small Garden Island has one of the largest senior softball organization on the Hawaiian islands. For its size, the Kauai Senior Citizens Softball Association host 15 teams playing from January through July, culminating with the State Finals in August. The standard playing ball is a 14-inch softball—Hawaii standard ball. Eligible players range from age 55 to 75+. Hawaii rules now allow only age 60 player to play on the field, unless younger players were grandfathered in. Games are on Saturday mornings on fields in Lihue, Hanapepe, Kaumakani, Eleele, Puhi, Wailua Houselots, and Kapaa.

Kauai Senior Softball Association’s League Commissioner, Pedro Patrick Baniaga passed away on Dec. 11 2019 at Wilcox Medical Center. Kauai Teams/Players Medal in St. George
Several Kauai players, with the help of other island players and some mainland players, medal at this year’s Huntsman Senior Games in St. George, Utah. Kauai 70s, Ho’oikaika 74, Ho’oikaika 70s, and Hanapaa 65s garnered gold. Islanders 55s and 60s garnered silver. Kauai Rebels took Bronze in the 60s division.
